Shrew Haven Fall Bowhunting Pic

Shrew Haven deerhunting camp is a legendary place to stay. Located in the amazing Upper Peninsula of Michigan the group of the Shrew Haven members are meeting there every fall to bowhunt and to enjoy the stay in the Shrew Haven deerhunting camp. This is the place where we fieldtest the Shrew Bows to guarantee every single Shrew Bow will be a perfect hunting bow in the hand of a traditional bowhunter. Roger harvested a nice doe 2 days ago.

Successfully Shrew Hunt

"Banana Ridge was loaded with acorns this year. It was difficult placing a stand, because no matter where I sat, there always deer feeding downwind. I finally got lucky with a north wind that blew my scent off the ridge. I had been seeing deer early, so I was in my stand by 1:30. About 2:00 6 does came from the west, moving toward me but off to my right. The main group was out of range, but one doe fed within 20 yards.

I had to turn hard to my right, I was glad my Li’l Favorite was a shorter bow.

At the shot she spun hard, and ran back in the direction she came. I saw the arrow fall out the opposite side, and she was pumping blood pretty good. She ran in a 60 yard curve, slowed to a walk, and then I watched her bed down.

Because she bedded down rather than tipping over, I backed out and gave her some time to expire.

I started on the blood trail 90 minutes later. It was easy in the snow, but I went slowly, not wanting to push her if she was still alive.

I found her where I had seen her lie down. It is so fun to bowhunt in the snow..."
