This was an epic tournament.  The memories of this shoot will remain with us as an echo that reverberates deeply and reminds us what these kill tournaments are all about. This 5th Kill Tournament held in Austria will go down in history as one of the toughest kill tournaments ever!

After hearing so many different impressions from the participants of this 5th Kill Tournament Austria, and seeing as they are so intense and varied, we decided to publish 4 separate reports on it.

Today we are sharing with you a few words and pictures of how we actually set up this challenging course.
Enjoy these first pictures we are sharing. They will give you an idea of just how truly big this gigantic landscape is. This is what those who attended our 5th Austrian Kill Tournament were able to experience, and those who didn't attend missed out on.

Early on, during the construction and placement of the targets, it became clear that this kill tournament on the Stub-Alm would be an extraordinary tournament. The steep terrain here on the Stub Alm around the Altes Almhaus Inn is ideal for the special shooting situations we like to present for the instinctive archers competing in our kill tournaments.

On Thursday and Friday, Henry Bodnik , together with the team from BSC Holzmichl, brought to life a rock-hard bow hunting 3D course with a total of 38 different shooting scenarios.

Each of these shooting stations was constructed in the beautiful mountain landscape of the Stubalm. Henry is especially suited for conceptualizing these challenging, realistic, and fun shooting scenarios because he can draw from what he has learned during his many bowhunting adventures in North America and, also from his involvement of over 40 years in archery here in Europe. These unique and challenging shooting stations and how the traditional bowhunters respond to them is what has helped to create the myth and mystique of these legendary tournaments.

Here are the pictures of how the course was set up for the 5th Kill Tournament in Austria 2020

Once all the targets are set up and ready to go, on Friday afternoon, Henry goes over the course one more time. He personally shoots every shot positions and every target to make sure that he is satisfied with them all. In this way, Henry can put his final stamp of approval on the entire course knowing that, before the start of the tournament, he has optimally designed all the various shooting positions. A few twigs here and there will be removed with pruning shears in order to create clear shot paths to the kill area of the 3-D targets. This time, after his last ascent of the tournament course it was quite clear to Henry that this course here on the Stub Alm would demand a lot from the participants of this 5th Kill Tournament held in Austria.

Now - Everything was ready and the tournament could begin!

In the next blog post, we will present you with many pictures and the continuing story from the two days of the competition!
